Roundtables
organized by WISCOMP facilitate issue-based, focused group discussions
on themes of contemporary significance in a range of fields including
security, foreign policy and conflict transformation. Previously,
they have focused on themes such as Gender Perspectives on Conflict
Coverage: The Role of Women Media Persons, Breaking the Silence: Women
and Kashmir, The Changing Contours of Diplomacy and Non-Military Variables
of Security: Voices from Pakistan. The Roundtables also provide a
forum for young entrants to these fields to present and publicize
their work.
Wiscomp
was established as part of the efforts of the Foundation for Universal Responsibility
to build a culture of coexistence and nonviolence that is gender-sensitive
and inclusive. A not-for-profit, non-sectarian, non-denominational organization,
the Foundation promotes universal responsibility in a manner that celebrates
a diversity of beleifs and practices, and that contributes to a global ethic
of nonviolence, coexistence and gender equity. The work of the Foundation
is global in its reach and transcends nationalist political agendas.
