Experiencing, Exploring, Expanding Selves: A Workshop on Identity,

Conflict and Coexistence

WISCOMP in collaboration with Nehru Memorial Museum and Library is organizing a five day summer workshop Experiencing, Exploring, Expanding Selves from June 24-28, 2008 at Nehru Memorial Museum and Library, Teen Murti House, New Delhi.

The workshop will bring together students in the age group of 15-19 years from schools across National Capital Region to explore issues around identity, conflict and coexistence.

The workshop seeks to encourage the participants to:

  • Define different kinds of  identities and factors that lead to their creation- media, films, textbooks, family lores etc;

  • Identify some of the stereotypes and the manner in which they are formulated and perpetuated;

  • Create personal and collective interpretations of   historical narratives through research and dialogue;

  • Practice active listening and non violent communication;  and

  • Design and develop scripts for self and communities that address these issues through visual and performing arts.
