Symposium: Human
Security in the New Millennium
The
WISCOMP Summer Symposium on Human Security
in the New Millennium, held from August 21st to 26th,
2000, provided a unique context for nearly 100 people, from the South Asian
region, to engage in debates and discussions on issues related to Human
Security. Spread over a period of 6 days, it enabled delegates to interact with
and listen to those whose work has focused on peace, security and gender issues. Major
papers presented at the
Symposium are being published in a special issue of the
Indian Journal of Gender Studies, a journal of Centre for Women’s Development
Studies (CWDS) published by Sage Publications. The writings reflect a commitment
to build theory and praxis of peace and security studies within a people
oriented and gender sensitive framework. Amena
